I think this blog looks great and already has a lot of engaging content to browse. The design looks professional but has personality and reflects a youthful perspective, especially with the collages of images edited together. The visual aesthetic paired with the way much of the blog’s text is written (in lowercase, with a casual and inviting tone) really conveys the admin’s online presence, which is important as an individual writing from their perspective their thoughts on music and culture. I like that there is an about page that explains who the admin is, including their background education and interests, which clearly communicates their online persona and establishes that this is important to the platform (rather than being disembodied from the thoughts they share in blog posts). Having this distinct page to explain the admin and why they are writing the blog aligns with the idea of an online space and online persona allowing people more control over their work, as when Audrey Watters discusses how having one’s own domain lets them “have control over the look and feel of their own sites, including what’s shared publicly.” This afforded control extends to controlling much of our own data, such as what personal information and how much is shared online. This particular blog puts a name, face, and other information to the admin’s work, which demonstrates the personal cyberinfrastructure’s potential to be both public profile and portfolio, giving the admin full control of what personal information they want to share alongside their work. The combination of the two lets creators express themselves in a variety of ways, and “write themselves into being” through their preferred methods. I appreciate that this blog summarizes on the homepage what type of content can be found. The content itself is well written and accessible, I really like that it includes video and screenshots of lyrics, the multimedia approach is aesthetically appealing and engages readers. In the same category there are multiple posts, I might recommend finding a way to separate these rather than having the reader scroll past one to get to the next under it. I also might work on the ‘contact’ part of the blog, so far there’s an email address, but maybe a comment section could be added; there’s also social media linked but it doesn’t lead to the admin yet. I like that there’s a dark/light mode, but there could also be greater accessibility (I installed One Click Accessibility for mine). Overall this blog is very well designed, has personality, and the content is interesting and eye-catching.
